Mountain Bike Racing Great Divide Race

Mountain Bike Racing can be a tough and gruelling challenge. Usually races are over in a few hours at the most, but do you ever hanker for a really long and challenging race? The Great Divide Race is probably the most challenging mountain bike racing event.

This race is one that you do alone with no race support. In some ways it's a bit like the Eco Challenge except that you get to ride the whole way if you can and there are no race organizers to help you out. The race involves massive climbs, totaling 200,000 feet over the length of this incredible mountain bike racing event.

The Great Divide race takes solo mountain bike racing to a whole new level. The race is 2,745 miles long starting at Roos, Montana following the US portion Great Divide Mountain Bike Route along the Continental Divide, ending at Antelope Wells New Mexico. The race rules stipulate that you cannot get help from friends and that you can only use facilities such as stores and motels which are available to everyone. Cell phones are allowed, but can only be used in an emergency. GPS units are permissible.
