As well as having steep uphills Stage 5 of this fantastic  MTB Race also featured a severely rutted route as well as nasty jutting rocks that the racers were forced to navigate around. It did not take long for Urs Huber to challenge a four man breakaway that included Australians Brad Davis and Justin Morris. As he accelerated past them Boelen quickly followed not wanting to let Huber out of his sight. They were later joined by Krenn and Mulkens thus putting the top four on GC in front.
