Crocodile Trophy 2011 Stage 3

Crocodile Trophy 2011 Stage 3 proved to be a rather more enjoyable leg in this toughest of ten day mountain bike racing events. Crocodile Trophy 2011 Stage 3 was a 115 km stage from Koombooloomba to Irvinebank.

After what proved for many to be a wet, sleepless and miserable night in their small tents, several of which leaked, the racers were spared racing to Gunnawara along the daunting Powerline Track. Instead the race was rerouted to Irvinebank.

 

The redirected route included 36km of relatively easy trails, 22 km of paved road and 38 km of real mountain bike racing over sharp hilly terrain. It finally stopped raining making for a much more pleasant day for the competitors.
